With a total of 177 medals, Australia dominated the Commonwealth Games for the sixth time in a row. Celebrations for some impressive performances by Australia’s elite female athletes are well deserved. It is clear however that preparation for tougher competition at the London Olympics (2012) are expected – a challenge gladly welcomed by Australia’s top athletes.

I had the privilege of talking to Deborah Acason before she went off to the Commonwealth Games. It was fantastic to watch her win the Bronze medal, although there were a few heart stopping moments prior to her lifting 110 kilograms, a Commonwealth Games record.
