Champion act of kindness

Champion act of kindness

After days of extremely close competition both in the pool and at the beach, the Rescue 2010 Lifesaving World Championships wrapped up in October. Australia successfully claimed the 2010 World Championship title from neighbouring rivals New Zealand.

A sporting gesture. During the competition, the Egyptian women’s relay team won their race by a clear margin, however, they were disqualified for a break on a baton change. Our Aussie relay women won gold!  What did our Aussie girls do after receiving their gold medals? They called up the Egyptian girls, had them stand on the dais and presented their own gold medals to them. They were clearly outclassed by the Egyptians and they knew it. They respected the athleticism of their competitors and wanted to show it.

Good on you girls, you are winners to us.
