I am currently sitting in the airport in Graz ready to embark on a 30 hour journey back to Australia with the family. After enjoying some wonderful weather, training and fun times in Slovenia, the thought of coming back to the cold and masses of work in Melbourne is a little depressing. Continue Reading

First stop: UK: Henley Royal Regatta
Our first week on tour found us in the UK staying in the rowing crazy town of Henley, billeted out with the friendly locals. We banked in some training on the London Olympic rowing course at Eton and checked out the Olympic accomodation for rowers and kayakers which will be based at the University of London, nice and close to the Olympic course.
Although some would say rowing is not the greatest of spectator sports, the Henley Royal Regatta is a must see spectacle for sports lovers. To set the scene imagine the fashion, the marquees and the car park barbies of the Melbourne cup…. except the rowers are the horses. The HRR is a festival that sees London’s investment bankers take time out to don their university blazers and reminicse of the glory days - over a pimms or 10.
For us, the Henley Regatta provided a chance to find our racing legs again and enjoy some competition before the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne stokes up next week. These 2 regattas will provide us with benchmarks to see where our new combination is sitting in the world ranks as we head towards the pointy end of the season for the Bled World Champs.
In response to comments from the last blog – Thanks for checking it out and for all the extra good luck sent. To Scotty - I have one good friend who calls me BP it just got skipped in the bio.

Hi everyone,
I am currently laid up on the couch with the flu and an eye infection. Bummer. I went to Perth for the Australian training camp, it was great, and a major achievement for me was that I got selected in the Australian team for a tournament in late August. The Womens’ league went quite well, we won two and lost two which was a good result as we didn’t have out full team.
The trip home to Sydney was not that much fun, we were all ready to take off then there was some problem so I didn’t get back till 6am on Monday. Since I have been sick I have only worked one day this week, but soldier on, I am going to Brisbane tomorrow for two men’s league games.
Talk to you all next week.
Kylie
